I confess I am a latecomer to the world of blogging. Being an opinionated person, or, rather, admitting to being an opinionated person, as well as having a (somewhat dusty) degree in political science, I was moth-drawn to it, though. This is actually a nice way to have a discussion. If you don't like what I say, you don't have to read it. In fact, you can avoid me altogether and I won't even know it. Or you can read my opinions without my knowledge.
Likewise, if I don't want to hear from you, I can disable your ability to comment altogether. Or I can just choose not to read your comments. At any rate, it is a bit safer than face to face arguing. It means I have time to think of those snappy comebacks I never think of face to face, too.
Apparently, I'm not the only one that finds this form of communication pleasing. I went out to try to find statistics, what I found was mounds of sociological research on how people use blogs. Usage is in the millions. To cope with all this opinion, we have Google's new blog search engine. It's getting good reviews.
So, have fun Googling your Lj!
