I'm getting into the season of holiday traditions. Hallowe'en means making scary food.
Last year I made a nice Kitty litter cake.
This year's scary food is Deviled Eyeballs. I tried it out last weekend and will repeat it for Saturday's party.
Take a standard recipe for Deviled Eggs, however you like to make them. Slice large black olives in thirds and place the end pieces in the center of each yellow deviled yolk. Arrange 4 or 5 saffron threads radiating around each olive to give them a nice "bloodshot" look.
An interesting note: While the idea of Deviled Eggs may sound satanic, the term "deviled" actually refers to a device called a "devil" that was used to finely mince or chop. This device is also responsible for Deviled Ham.
Cheers!
