Everything new is old

It seems I can't escape things cycling around -- like space is folding in on itself. A situation crops up that is the image of something that happened half a lifetime ago -- only with new players. Did I not make the right move last time? Am I being offered a chance to put right something I did wrong?
Or is it just exploring another rabbit trail -- another joseki?
Or does it just mean that there are a limited number of scripts out there, and I've lived them all, now I'm in reruns (what a ghastly thought!).

I'm going to stop pondering now and take my migraine to bed for awhile. You figure it out.
