Last Sunday's Dim Sum expedition went well after all. The Chinese broccoli and Bok choi did not stand a chance when they rotated near me, plus I had some yummy sesame balls and egg custards. But the company of old friends was most filling. Last week's Solstice was my anniversary, and these were people I had met those many years ago along with my husband, and their children.

After Dim Sum (with much storytelling about parents for the younger set), the menfolk set off to their computer tasks, the offspring went their own way, and that left Mary and I to wander down to Saturday Market (and oxymoron since it's also open on Sunday) for the 2 to 3 hours it would take them to wrangle the network.

After walking about 5 blocks at an easy pace, talking all the way, Mary stopped dead in her tracks and looked at me like I had two heads. "You can breathe!" She was incredulous. "It's downtown Portland and you can breathe!"
I laughed, "Yes, and walk at the same time." She never got over it all day. She wasn't used to me not having an asthma attack all the time. We walked all over the market for 3 hours.

We found a Himalayan shop where I found a beautiful outfit -- embroidered skirt and blouse in dark olive for $10. As I was buying it, I noticed a tarnished silver Ohm in the jumble of stuff in the glass cabinet underneath the cash register. It's a wonder I saw it at all -- but I was drawn to it, and had to have it.

The boys weren't done with their network, so Mary and I went to her place for some Firefly and satsang. Afterward, we all went to Batman Begins, which was better than I expected. Batman...ninjitsu...it works for me. Except for why can't American directors and editors film a decent fight scene! Take a page from Fred Astaire, fer chrissakes! "You'd think these kids are [fighting] with their faces" to paraphrase Fred. Nuff said.

Got home and put the Ohm on a chain. It sat right above my heart. When I put it on, I felt the tension slip away from my shoulders. I think I'll be wearing it for awhile...
