New Voyages around old stars
Jan. 20th, 2006 12:20 pmFor all those missing classic Star Trek, there's a very dedicated group of fans out there on a mission. They have lovingly reconstructed the set of the original series and are producing new episodes. The two they have done so far have been good. The first was, well, okay -- very low budget and sketchy. The second had much higher production valuees and introduced a new captain played by James Cawley -- a former Elvis impersonator (who better to follow Shatner?). Every detail - the music, the effects, the costumes and the sixties style of acting has been reproduced here.
The efforts these folks have gone to is bearing fruit. The news about the laest episode is fantastic. Not only will it show even more improvements, but the cast will include Walter Koenig reprising his role as Pavel Chekov and George Takai as Hikaru Sulu! Upcoming Episodes will feature Grace Lee Whitney (Yeoman Rand) and writers such as David Gerrold, who promises to give us a sequel to his "Trouble With Tribbles."
Is this geekalicious or what?
