Supreme ubergeekdom

lurkittyMy friend A is our local beta tester. Whatever comes out, he has to be the first one on the block to have one. It doesn't matter how satisfied with a particular piece of equipment he becomes, if a newer, faster, prettier model comes out, he has to have it. He has to have it now.
That's how he ended up with a Ford Explorer Hybrid rather than a Toyota Highlander Hybrid. He would have had to wait 6 mos. for the Toyota. He's not satisfied with the Explorer; he really wanted the Toyota, but he had to have it right away.
A serves a useful function. You can call him about nearly any new piece of technology and ask what model is best. That's how I got my Treo 650. I got to play with his and I liked it. In the realm of geeks, A is a supreme ubergeek.
A informs us today that all the fanfare that went on a couple of weeks ago about the datestamp 04/05/06 07:08:09 was premature, because it was not in significance order. The real event is in a couple of weeks: 060504030201 (yymmddhhmmss). w00t!
C'mon. You know you believe him.
Another friend tells me that today is 4/20. We may have to celebrate with John Prine and an Illegal smile...
