I spent Monday night in a Tipi. Well, most of the night. Outlandish as it may seem, I am part of a group of shamans that meet occasionally for healing ceremonies. We heal ourselves, other people, the planet, whatever comes up. Lots of stuff always comes up.
Here's how it works. A tipi is built in an hourglass shape, but it's a spiral. Build a fire in the middle. The perfect configuration to convey your prayers heavenward to whomever you intend.
We two-leggeds have created an awful mess. We can't blame nature for this one. Grandmother just pointed it out to us. We have to clean it up ourselves.
Except that we keep making more messes. I just learned from a friend that there are about 40 small oil spills on the Gulf of Alaska right now. They aren't big enough to report, and nobody bothers to clean them up. Imagine what happens when they open ANWR up to drilling. Will they spill any less oil? Will anyone clean it up?
