RIP, Wally

In all my years of watching spaceflights, there was one astronaut I really thought I'd like to meet. It wasn't just that Wally Schirra was courageous; he was a member of the Mercury 7 and was the only man to fly Mercury, Gemini and Apollo missions. One can only imagine the courage it took to climb aboard Apollo 7, the first mission launched after the Apollo 1 tragedy.

I remember Wally Schirra not only as an astronaut but as a mission commentator. Despite his occupation, he was down to earth and very personable.
