Stolen Ideas

I just heard a caller on the Mike Malloy show (he"s one of my least favorites on Air America) that got blown off. The guy had a great idea, though. It seems Washington D.C. has can make its own laws by initiative. So they write an initiative to outlaw lobbying within the city limits of D.C. Congress will probably over turn it, but then Congress has to come out publicly and overturn it and they look like buttheads doing it.

Interesting. Put a real damper on K Street.

Brighter day

I got to the point where I was very depressed today. I won't recount all of the badness, suffice it to say it overwhelmed me. I ran out of my place of employ, having worked late, trying to hide the fact that there were tears in my eyes.
By the time I got to the door I was sobbing. I had to do something. So I called altrus who has a heart as big as Minnesoter. He was going to chanting tonight and he took me along. Kirtan is a Hindu devotional practice of chanting/singing to music that puts you into this wonderful ecstatic meditative state. I went and I put my heart (and a few other chakras) into it and felt all warm and fuzzy thereafter.

Then I came home and found a lovely card from Professor fiona_fawkes in my snail mailbox!
