Gathering

I am leaving for my mother's house to hold vigil. My sister just called to say my Dad is slipping away. Thank you for all your prayers and good wishes.

I need some feedback...

When my Dad went in to the hospital around Thanksgiving, T went up with me. We thought we were going to lose him then, and we were all going in one by one (ICU rules). At that time, T declined to go in and see him. T hasn’t seen Dad since before then.

I’m going up this evening to sit vigil for my Dad, as you may have gathered from my previous posts. I called T and told him as much. He asked how I was holding up. I said I was okay, considering the situation. He asked if I needed company and I said I didn’t, but if he wanted to come up and see my Dad one last time, he was welcome. T declined to come.

T has known my Dad for 25 years. I know they weren’t close, but it seems strange to me that he wouldn’t want to see him. Did I do wrong when I said I didn’t need company? If it were T’s Dad, I’d go. It just seems odd.
