More healing music

lurkittyIn June, 1964, Paul Simon's friend Andrew Goodman disappeared while on a voter registration drive in Mississippi. Goodwin's body, along with those of fellow Freedom Riders Michael Schwerner and James Chaney, were found over a month later. Simon wrote the song He was My Brother for him. The song did not have the impact of Strange Fruit, but it had the effect of giving the incident a much wider audience.
This week, one of the Klansmen responsible was convicted -- the first conviction ever in this case.
On a lighter note, I see the Southern Baptists have ended their eight year boycott of Disney. Mind you, Disney hasn't changed it's policies on domestic partners or anything, but the Baptists still consider it effective. Of course, there is the matter of them wanting Disney backing for a new version of Narnia.....
