Damned if you do...
Aug. 26th, 2006 01:06 amI almost found myself feeling a tiny bit sorry for Mr. George W. Bush.
Before you call the nice young men in their clean white suits to come take me away, let me explain.
Like many of you, my stomach turned when I read about the nine schoolchildren from Louisiana who were forced to ride in the back of a bus. The damage control is starting as well, and it is just as sickening.
The story is spreading like wildfire. The pundits are picking it up and the NAACP is involved. I feel certain Mr. Bush will be called upon to comment. Here's the dilemma:
If he says anything, he'll be called hypocritical and disingenuous. After all, he only deigned to attend the annual NAACP convention this year for the first time.
If he says nothing, he'll be charged with racism and and not being tough on upholding equality in the schools.
My, my, what a quandary! Almost makes you feel sorry for him! But, not really.
