Testostrone City, here we come!
Jan. 27th, 2006 08:21 amSunday marks the beginning of the media blitz leading up to that most testosterone laden event of the year, The Stupor Bowl. And with it, we shall observe a an interesting geek phenomenon: "The Super Bowl Excuse".
It is interesting to watch geeks make up excuses to miss the Sunday D&D game in favor of watching the Super Bowl. They don't want to come out and say "I'm going to watch the game, sorry." So they make excuses. They really don't want to lie about it.
Examples: "My friend is coming from out of town."
"I'm just going for the party."
"Er. I have things to do."
Watching the Super Bowl seems to detract from their perception of themselves. It is a guilty pleasure for an ubergeek. Stay tuned and we'll see what comes up this year. The apocalyse is near -- The Seahawks (what is considered our local team) are actually in the Bowl. Should make for some interesting excuses.
