Big Brother
Oct. 19th, 2005 10:07 pmOne of the things I liked about Britain was the freedom. Take the traffic light cameras. The law in England says they have to point at the back of the cars so that the pictures taken cannot incidentally show the passenger, since only the driver has broken the law. They don't want the pictures used for any other purpose.
The our cousins across the pond were not amused to find out that AOL and Homeland Security are best buddies. Apparently AOL has decided that sharing information with DHS is the order of the day, even if there's no warrant or other legal incentive to do so.
The Brits won't be pleased to find out about the tracking codes in color laser printed documents. With them, the government can not only track down the exact printer, but the date and time the document was printed.
Score another for the Land of the Free....
